We had old garage door openers, including one that was over 30 years old. I had been repairing them every few months when something would go wrong, but one of them finally had a critical breakage (gear shaft snapped). Not long after contacting Precision, Kevin was in my garage, explaining my options. I already knew what I wanted, and he had some additional tips and tricks to quiet our noisy garage doors. It was all installed and running smoothly by dinner time, and this was on a Sunday. Now I can't even hear the garage doors open or close unless I'm standing next to them. Kevin didn't hard sell me on anything, just gave me options and let me pick. It looks like he reshaped some bent metal on my roller tracks too, so we don't need to replace them.

I had a very disappointing experience with Precision. Our garage door had been giving us issues for a couple years, which we had ignored, but finally stopped altogether after some overnight rain. We had Precision Garage Door service come out and take a look. They told me that basically everything about the garage door, except the door itself, needed to be replaced at a cost of over $3,500. The estimate was not itemized and the part numbers for the motor and opener were not provided. I requested an itemized estimate, but did not get one. It seemed steep, so I had PDQ come give another estimate. They arrived early. They immediately determined it was a minor laser sensor issue. They replaced the sensors and were gone in less than 2 hours and at a total cost out the door less than 1/10 of what Precision quoted me. They also gave me ideas about what to do in the future and what else I should be looking out for when it's time to replace the whole door. That quote was also well below what Precision quoted for just the motor and some other pieces. I would caution using this service and understand that they will try to upsell you significantly more than you need.

The work was completed professionally and my garage door operates smoothly now. The TorqueMaster conversion to exposed double springs was handled correctly, and they used quality parts. However, the $2,000+ cost raises questions. Either this service was extremely overpriced, or they changed parts that weren’t needed for a broken spring. I’m uncertain whether the whole overhaul was necessary when only the spring was broken.

I had a problem with my garage door opening without coming loose from the chain. Over the weekend it stopped working at all. I called Precision Garage Door Service on Monday Morning. Around lunch time the technician (Kevin O'Hara) came out and diagnosed the issue. He explained what needed to be done, and gave me some options. He worked really hard, and had it running smoothly in about an hour. I would recommend Kevin to any of my friends.

Kevin O'Hara, the technician sent to our home, first, was able to move our appointment to an earlier time, which was outstanding since it was Sunday. Second, he was immediately able to find the issue of the service call. This issue was covered under our warranty. It's rare in this day and age to find a company to provide service on Sunday, come early, send a true professional, such as Kevin, complete the job to perfection and have a warranty cover all charges.
